Situated opposite the scenic Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve, Bassenthwaite Lake Station is a Café in a restored railway station with a full size replica steam train on the former Cockermouth to Keswick line.

Meals are served from 9am until 3pm. Takeaway drinks can be served from 8am.

Visitors are welcome to explore the lovely old station and grounds. Sadly, we cannot allow guests without dining reservations to view the train in order to avoid disturbing other diners.

There is a small shop with local produce and plenty of souvenirs, plus icecream, wine, cider and beer and basic provisions.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea aboard the replica Orient Express train. Or pop in at the end of your day or pre-dinner for a delightful 'snifter' in the train or sunshine on the platform! Visitors should be aware that this is a dog-friendly site in all areas. Well-behaved dogs and owners are welcome and should observe our Doggie Etiquette at all times to avoid disturbance to other guests and keep everyone safe.

Our customers can enjoy a short level walk along the platform through the woodland and wild flower meadow or enjoy a peaceful few minutes in the bird hide overlooking the wildlife pond.

The consuming of own food and drink is not permitted however there is a public picnic bench in the Dubwath Silver Meadows narure reserve opposite our entrance.
